Behind LikeLoc

LikeLoc began as a personal project by a small team of enthusiasts who have experienced the challenges of relocation firsthand. We know exactly what it feels like to live in a foreign country and realize that the most vital local insights—the real "source of truth"—are often locked behind a language barrier.

With friends and relatives scattered across the globe, we quickly learned that it is impossible to master every language well enough to stay truly updated. We also discovered a frustrating reality of the modern internet: if you only search in English, you are effectively blind to a massive portion of the world’s knowledge. In many regions, the most important information simply doesn’t exist in English; it is written by locals, for locals, in their native tongue.

While you could try using standard large language models, they are often disconnected from the present, lack real-time updates, and are filtered through a global bias that can sanitize local realities. We needed a tool that provides direct, unfiltered access to ground-level truth.

We created LikeLoc to be that bridge. It is the tool we built for ourselves—a way to search directly within the local web of any country using the language of your choice. Now, we’ve opened it up for you to use as well.
