A Historical Survey of Foreign Professionals
TheLEADER’s July 2019 report on HSBC’s Expat Explorer survey describes foreign professionals attracted by career advancement, new challenges and quality of life. In that survey, 67% of respondents in Vietnam reported higher disposable income after moving. This is a historical survey of a particular group, rather than a current estimate for every foreign resident or a promise about a newcomer’s budget [1].
Career Expectations Need Context
The same 2019 report gives an average annual income of US$78,750 for the surveyed foreign professionals in Vietnam. Employer support with living costs was one factor in respondents’ financial experience. The figure belongs to that survey and period; it should not be used as today’s local salary benchmark or as an estimate of what every person moving to Vietnam will earn [1].
Experiences of Everyday Culture
A January 2024 VTV report interviews foreigners about life in Vietnam and describes appreciation for open-minded attitudes and family traditions. These personal impressions offer a view of daily life that differs from a salary survey. They are accounts from the people featured, rather than a statement that everyone experiences Vietnamese society in the same way [2].
Settling Into a Particular Community
A Phu My Hung article includes a foreign resident’s account of difficulties with cultural differences when first arriving and feeling more settled after living in Vietnam for longer. The source comes from a specific development and community, so it is useful as an individual local experience rather than a representative national account [3].
Keeping Residence Information Current
Tây Ninh provincial police published an April 2026 overview of changes to rules for foreigners taking effect in July 2026. It covers residence administration and related procedures. This official update is a more appropriate starting point for checking current arrangements than an old lifestyle survey or a general expatriation article [4].
